ESPORTS Front & Center

Halo — It has been a super busy month for the Proton Gaming squad. Some shakeups with the Halo team during rostermania led the way. Proton added Nate Kostal, aka Squallaye, to the team, who was previously on the Cloud9 roster.

We also saw a familiar face return to the Halo team. Matt Haines (@Hainesss), who had briefly retired early in 2023, putting the Proton Gaming jersey back on this month to compete. He and Squallaye will join Common & BreakingShot on the roster with JaggedCloud as Coach.

The team earned itself travel coverage to the upcoming Halo Championship Major, hosted by Optic Gaming, in Arlington, TX, this upcoming weekend (June 30th — July 2nd). Proton will battle as one of the top seeds in the Open Bracket, or as it’s called, the Passion Pit, with a $250,000 prize pool.

HCS Major Hosted by Optic Gaming

On June 29th, Proton will practice at a bootcamp in the Texas Throwdown Showdown. Twelve of the top open bracket Halo teams will sharpen their skills against one another prior to the major event, taking place the following day. Coverage begins at 12pm CST, and you can follow the action at twitch.tv/lvthalo. Also, look for Proton Gaming Halo content creator, Alissa, aka xotoxiic at the Optic Halo event! She’ll be in the crowd taking in all the action and keeping her community up to date.

Even more importantly, valuable HCS Points are up for grabs as Proton Gaming battles for a spot in the Halo World Championship at the end of the season.

Texas Showdown Throwdown Flier

FGC — Also this month, Proton Gaming fighting game sensei, Steven Delgado aka Coach Steve (@FightCoachFight), traveled to Daytona Beach, FL, for the CEO Fighting Games Event.

Coach Steve had an incredible showing after entering multiple games and placing in the top 8 in two of them — King of Fighters and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3!

Coach Steve is a super-respected star of the fighting games scene. You can find him grinding fighting games with his awesome community nearly every night for hours. There aren’t many who put the work in like Coach and we’re very proud of his work! Coach Steve has been with the Proton squad now for 3 years. Find him nightly at twitch.tv/ImCoachSteve.

Also in the FGC, Mortal Kombat I was announced, and there’s a lot of good content out there surrounding what’s been released so far. If you are looking for fun content around MKI or pretty much any other topic, check out our guy Dab (@daddydab32ho) at twitch.tv/igldaddydab.

Proton Gaming #Play2Share Campaign

In June, Proton kicks off its #Play2Share Marketing Campaign! Proton shares its tournament winnings with its fans each month via digital assets and is the worlds first esports organization to do so. But, for months, it has also been sharing assets it has earned from playing and competing in web3 gaming projects.

Anyone holding the teams token or who stakes their MATIC tokens to the teams PoS Validator for the Polygon Network earns a share of the pie each month. Proton sees this sharing model as a way to usher web2 gamers into web3 in a safe and economical way.

The organization drops in game assets and game economy tokens which naturally drives interest in each game and how those assets can be used. Proton sees itself as a bridge for gamers between web2 and web3 and is actively seeking out quality web3 gaming projects with which to collaborate. This month Proton’s @GyorfiDenis helped Proton share assets from the Nova Creed game and participated in a battle royale test of AstroMust!

The advantage for gaming projects is that it sees new users and usage of assets which might otherwise sit unused and, all that is asked of the gaming project is to stake any held MATIC to the Proton Gaming Validator Node where the project will earn Proton Gaming tokens in addition to the APY offered by Polygon. Those tokens can be used for promotion, in game rewards, etc!

Proton will be using its #Play2Share hashtag and pushing this initiative with its partners, including Polygon and others. Look for announcements of new collaborations, partnerships, token utility, etc in the coming weeks and months!

Speaking of Partnerships…

Proton Gaming has partnered with Mice Media! Mice Media is a decentralized media and news platform which is rolling out as we speak. As a decentralized platform, they wish to provide a news voice for all and avoid the bias, etc, that seems to plague todays legacy media outlets.

One of the pillars of its every day news will be esports coverage and Proton Gaming will be the key team anchoring the esports portal on the platform!

Proton will also bring exclusive content, team exclusive NFT’s and tournaments for Mice Media NFT holders. Proton will also host and stream its own tournaments and events on the platform.

Mice Media NFT holders will also earn an extra percentage of rewards and other incentives for staking their MATIC to the Proton Gaming Validator Node. More details to come on this! #OneMICE
